A glass of wine and a few truffle shavings are all it takes to turn a humble loaf of bread into a gourmet treat.
You will need:
1 loaf of French toast, unsliced
600 g Jarlsberg Original, grated
5 ml white wine
1 cup milk
Shaved truffles if desired
Makes 4 portions.
To make the dish
Cut the top from the French toast loaf and scoop out the insides to make a bowl. Roast at 150°C in the oven until crunchy. Turn a few times to ensure it roasts evenly. Boil the white wine and mix the grated cheese to make a smooth sauce. Pour the cheese sauce inside the bread bowl. Dip veggies, meat, fish or seafood and enjoy!
